Our Mission & Vision
At the Heritage Agrarian Institute of Caribbean Innovation (HAICI), we’re cultivating more than crops – we’re growing a sustainable future for Sint Maarten and the Caribbean region. Our vision is to become the leading force in agricultural education, promoting food sovereignty, economic empowerment, and environmental resilience.
Mission Statement
To provide world-class agricultural education that empowers individuals with the knowledge, skills, and innovation needed to transform Caribbean agriculture while preserving our heritage and protecting our environment.
Our Story – A Vision Rooted in Necessity
For years, agriculture was not considered an essential part of the education system in Sint Maarten. Despite the island’s heavy reliance on food imports and the increasing threats of climate change, no formal curriculum prepared local youth or entrepreneurs for sustainable farming. Seeing this gap, Cee Marlin decided to take action.
With a background in sustainable development, community-driven agriculture, and eco-innovation, Cee had already been working on food security projects through initiatives like Vicky’s Keys Volunteer Center, Marlin Yard Foundation, and the Food Farm Gardens Association (FFGA). But he realized that real, lasting change required education—not just farms.
That’s when HAICI was born.
